Bloom & Nectar Books Submission Guidelines

Clean, Value-Based Stories That Inspire

Welcome to Monarch’s adult imprints: Bloom (clean adult fiction) and Nectar (mission-aligned nonfiction). We publish for safe shelves—books adults can enjoy and families can trust, without second-guessing what’s on the next page.

Our Promise: Clean, Value-Based Stories That Inspire.

Non-Negotiables for All Submissions

To protect reader trust and uphold the Monarch standard, we only consider manuscripts that meet these requirements:

  • No profanity (including strong language and profanity substitutes used as profanity)
  • No explicit sexual content
    • Sweet and Wholesome Romance only (no spice)
  • No extreme violence (no graphic gore, torture detail, or gratuitous brutality)
  • Content must align with safe-shelf expectations: wholesome tone, respectful treatment of sensitive topics, and a values-forward worldview

If your manuscript is a better fit for edgy/explicit markets, we won’t be the right publisher—and that’s okay. We are building a clear lane and a trusted brand. Clear is kind. We wish you the best where your journey takes you.

Bloom Books

What We’re Seeking

We are currently considering:

  • Romance: sweet/wholesome, emotionally rich, strong relationship arc, integrity
  • Fantasy: clean, imaginative, wonder-filled, adventurous, series-work, no explicit graphic content or extreme violence, if romance is involved – sweet/wholesome only.
  • Science Fiction: clean, compelling, high-concept or character-driven, no explicit graphic content or extreme violence, if romance is involved – sweet/wholesome only.

Word Count Guidelines (recommended)

  • Romance: ~50,000–95,000
  • Fantasy: ~80,000–120,000
  • Science Fiction: ~70,000–120,000

Nectar Books

What We’re Seeking

Nonfiction that is:

  • practical, encouraging, and values-forward
  • clearly positioned for a specific audience by an expert in the field (credentials required)
  • built for real-world impact (families, educators, community leaders, readers seeking growth, Early Christian history, Orthodox Christianity, etc. – surprise us)

What to Submit for Nonfiction

We expect a proposal (not a full manuscript up front), including:

  • working title + subtitle
  • audience + need + matter (“who, why now, why does it matter to you and others”)
  • comparable titles (3)
  • chapter-by-chapter outline
  • 1–2 sample chapters (best representative chapters of the quality of your work)
